Hi! I want to display my graphic design and illustration work in a dynamic, engaging way.

I already have a Wordpress site which uses a pretty basic theme( https://claudiajessicaknight.com/). Is sticking on WP okay, or am I better off using something like Squarespace or Wix? Any suggestions welcome!

  • Hey Claudia,

You have some beautiful work! - I personally use Cargo - https://cargo.site/ ... They have some really cool / dynamic themes and you can pretty much do anything, plus its not too expensive per month (the same if not cheaper than WIX & Squarespace). I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions :)
  • Wordpress is powerful and you can find a lot of ready made templates. Probably there are dynamic and engaging ones too. As a designer I must say that using ready made designs is always shortcut. It is not personal. It may fit and look good however most cases it needs a lot of know how to do so. Most creative websites nowadays have been built using WebGL technology. It is possible to use it with Wordpress however it is not easy job and not every developer can do it.
Squarespace and Wix are options. I don't think that they are more engaging or dynamic than Wordpress themes. Wordpress is more open and has probably bit more customization options. Webflow is something between and there are also some nice ready made templates to explore.

One idea would be that you find websites what in your opinion are creative enough and try to check how these have been done. Is it some theme or is it custom. What technology is used etc.
