About me
I’m Laura, and I run Laurabelle Design and Illustration from sunny Glasgow. I studied graphic design at university and went on to work for The Print Box, a small but highly regarded print and design studio in Glasgow, working my way up to Senior Designer. For eight years I worked with a huge range of clients, from small one-person businesses to huge national brands. A particular career highlight was running all creative projects for The Restaurant Group, one of the UK’s largest hospitality companies, who own such brands as Frankie & Benny’s, The Filling Station and Chiquitos. I loved my time with The Print Box but I’ve always wanted to run my own business, and so in 2018 I took the plunge into self-employment. It’s common to hear the advice “find a niche” but I love being able to turn my hand to lots of different kinds of projects! Want a corporate brochure designed? Sure thing. Perhaps it’s a range of chic illustrations for your beauty brand? You got it. Need a smashing logo for your new business start up? I’m your gal!

  • Letterpress Christmas Cards
Letterpress Christmas CardsFor my 30th birthday I took myself to America for a two week trip up the west coast. While I Was there I arranged a one-to-one letterpress workshop with Reb Peters Press in Portland, Oregon. There I made two sets of Christmas cards, one in English and one in Scottish Gaelic. Both cards have proven popular in my online shop, and I in fact need to get a reprint of the Gaelic ones as they sold out in 2019!
  • Watercolour Christmas Cards
Watercolour Christmas CardsFor a few years now I have dabbled in designing and selling my own range of cards. The most popular so far have been the watercolour range. With a mix of modern and retro design, I was able to explore what I found most interesting and exciting and translate that into card designs that sell well.

Mora Bar and Restaurant • Logo and Branding • Menu SuiteAs a regular patron of Mora, I was delighted when they asked me to design their menu suite. Since the restaurant had just undergone a refurbishment, I was inspired to make use of the exciting new interiors. The restaurant now boasted a bold teal paint on the exterior, along with a strip of oxidised copper. The bar and seating area were all made of reclaimed oak which was offset by fine glass details and chunky metal girders. The place was bursting with texture and I made sure to incorporate thi
  • Merchant City Brewing • Label Design
Merchant City Brewing • Label DesignMerchant City Brewing approached me looking for a set of labels to launch their debut range of craft beers. Armed with only a logo, they were open to ideas of how to approach the project. With craft beer such a saturated and booming market, I proposed the idea of a more pared back approach, using labels with lots of white space. The already-established logo had a lot of fine detail, so I made sure to make this a prominent feature. Using part of the logo as a starting point, I created a wave pat
  • Culture Consultancy • Logo and Branding Design
Culture Consultancy • Logo and Branding DesignAfter almost ten years with the same branding, Culture Consultancy approached me when they felt it was time for a refresh. We worked together to create a brand that felt new, exciting and unique while keeping in mind the main focus of their business: people. The company offers a complex range of services to tackle tricky topics within large corporations. I distilled this huge offering to a simple, purposely imperfect circle graphic, representing the “aura” of culture which surrounds people ever
  • Content Science Review • Article Illustrations
Content Science Review • Article IllustrationsI worked with Content Science Review to design graphics to illustrate online editorials. Reading through the articles I would rough out some quick-fire ideas and collaborate with the team to select the strongest ideas. There was a lot of room to be playful, which made the project fun to do! The AI robot is a particular favourite.

I started at Print Box as a design and print assistant, and over the course of eight years worked my way up to Senior Designer, leading creative on projects for large and small companies alike, inlcuding The Restaurant Group: one of the UK's largest hospitality companies. Technically I held three positions in Print Box: Senior Designer, General Manager and Account Manager.
