Chernobyl Biennale 2064

  • Karol Sielski
Welcome to Chernobyl Biennale, which is taking place now in 2064. The reason why we wanted to set up Biennale at this time is to simply celebrate the end of the Atomic Era that Chernobyl has been associated with for almost a century. As Lenin's Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant has finally been decomissioned and the famous reactor number 4 has been shut down forever. This year's biennale will help us to think about the future of this place and look forward to a new beginning. The majority of participating artists have conveyed their ideas through the form of monuments, creating a contestable space facilitating a conversation where people can discuss and articulate possible futures of Chernobyl.
