Shortlisted for Global Public Service Team of the Year 2020: Championing Equality

BACKGROUND Apolitical is a learning platform for public servants. It is a global organisation that seeks to support civil servants in all countries of the world BRIEF For the third year in a row, Apolitical is celebrating innovative, groundbreaking teams that get the job done through their 'Public Service Team of the Year Awards'. This has been a challenging year, and public servants have been pushed to be more creative, innovative, and flexible than ever before — and they wanted to celebrate their work. This year has also been a remarkable time of recognising historic inequalities and seeking to rectify them. This award will recognise teams tackling equality broadly defined, from gender equality to racial equality to generational equity: these teams are helping level the playing field for others. IDEA In November 2020, I implemented Google's #IamRemarkableweek within the UK Government for the first time. This week focused on events to challenge the narrative around self-promotion for women and underrepresented groups. We were able to upskill 300+ civil servants, host 4 workshops and facilitated 7 interactive drop-in sessions. Through this effort, my team and I were shortlisted for Apolitical's 'Global Public Service Team of the Year Awards for Championing Equality'.
