I am a London born visual artist, with a socially engaged documentary approach and a curious portraiture practice. Currently based between London & New York.
I am a current 2021 Fulbright scholarship recipient, studying an MFA in Photography at Parsons, New School, New York. I am the founder of, South London based collective, Red Rolled and Seen, with whom I recently self published a photo book about women of colour in photography with the support of Kickstarter funding.

- Negative Space: Women of Colour in PhotographyNegative Space is a 112 page self- published photo book by Bella Okuya, printed with Aldgate Press, London, and Designed by Sorrel Packham. The photo book features interviews, portraits and photography about ten diverse women of colour, at varying stages of their career, working in the photography industry. It's a rare insight into the experiences, challenges and hopes for the future, of freelance photographers, art directors, photo-agents, and agency directors working in London today. The book
