About me
"To live is the rarest thing in the world. Many people exist, that is all." A quote from the famous novelist Oscar Wilde that has stuck with me throughout my university degree, as well as my career as a journalist. For me a job is something that should require a level of creativity, as well as personal interpretation to everything involved. This separates someone from the pack, making them a key asset to any organisation - no matter what kind of content that organisation spawns. This not only allows for outside thinking but also a fresh perspective from a possible outdated outlook. This is something I have applied to many tasks at many different organisations, all with different levels of success. I'll be the first to admit that I was never the type of person who had a clear idea on what they wanted to do as a career growing up. I Instead chose courses and subjects that interested me to some degree; it was only then that I fell in love with journalism. Like art, words can evoke feelings, and with Journalism those words also inform and help shape the reality of the world we live in. Whether that is good or bad is always up for debate depending on your opinion, but that sentiment runs just the same. My interests in journalism stem from longer forms of writing, the types of stories you'd see in magazines that allow the writer to write a lot more descriptively with a lot more ideas on display. Although I enjoy writing magazine features, that does not deter me from possessing so many other forms of writing, ranging from hard news stories to op-eds. Presently I have just graduated from Northumbria University with a First Class Degree in Media and Journalism and to be honest I don't have a clear idea on where I want to begin my next adventure. I've had the pleasure of working in so many diverse organisations that it has inspired me to continue my pursuit into anything and everything creative, including visual design and graphic design respectively.
