Which LGBTQ+ founders & business owners (UK-based) inspire you the most? I’m looking for speakers for an event :-)

We’re working on an upcoming panel event, and looking for LGBTQ+ founders, freelancers and business owners who are building amazing businesses in the creative industry.

I’d love to hear your suggestions, pop them below. Bonus points for UK or London-based Thanks so much :-)

  • Hi Pip,

This sounds amazing - may I put myself and my business forward?

I am London based, and work with autistic/audhd creatives - 95% of my clients are LGBTQ+, with 40% being trans. And I am non-binary. I am changing lives and providing a solution.

  • Gage Oxley is the Managing Director of oxygen film, a queer focused production company. Having already attended a talk by him, I can say he's both inspiring and realistic about the industry.

  • I would nominate "Ignacio Labayen" https://www.linkedin.com/in/ignacio-labayen-de-inza-82604a173/ I have worked with him at the charity that we both setup "ControllingChemSex" where he first initiated the idea and worked tirelessly to create the charity that it is today. I have also worked with him at other charities that have centred their attention to the LGBT community and its involvement with Chems and Chemsex. He work ethic and dedication to the support business of the community has been incredibly inspirational for me.
  • Kaig Lightner is a dynamo and a beacon in his field. https://www.linkedin.com/in/kaiglightner/ Read his profile for more on his LGBTQ credentials. I know him through Portland Spurs https://www.facebook.com/groups/PortlandSpurs who were the main sponsor of his initiative, Portland Community Football Club. https://www.facebook.com/portlandcommunityfootballclub "Soccer" is very much an elite sport in the US, as opposed to the universal version in the UK, and access for many children is on a very expensive pay to play basis. Of course this marginalises the very communities with ironically the highest talent potential, namely the poorer Hispanics in the suburbs. It was one of my proudest moments, attending PCFC's awards night and witnessing the positive impact of Kaig's project. If you can remote him in from the Paciific NW, he would add massive value to your panel.
